New way to get rid of old drugs at WTFD Today

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Ohio, (WDTN) - Don’t flush your old medicines. There’s a better way to get rid of them.

The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office and local fire departments want to help you get rid of old drugs in your medicine cabinet.

The program is called D.U.M.P. a Million, or dispose of unwanted medications properly.

You can drop off medication at The Washington Township Fire Station on McEwen Road Thursday February 25 from 2 p.m. through 5 p.m.

Major David Hale of The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office said, “That alleviates the possibility of it getting into the hands of syblings, of kids it should not get to, and contaminating the soil or water supply.”

All over the counter or prescription medications are accepted.

Keep pills in original container.

Officials also ask that you leave drug name and dosage information on the packaging.

Be sure to bring them to Station 45 at 8320 McEwen Road between 2 and 5 p.m. today.
