Mohammed Shaikh, the man killed in a Christmas Day crash on Interstate 675 in Centerville, died from multiple blunt force injuries, according to a preliminary report from the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office.

The 25-year-old Miamisburg man was pronounced dead at the scene after being thrown from his car in the crash that occurred at approximately 8:20 p.m. near the Wilmington Pike exit.

Shaikh’s southbound Honda Civic veered across the median and struck a car in the southbound lane, setting off a chain reaction involving two other cars and injuring six people, according to authorities.

Ken Betz, director of the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office, said nothing in the preliminary autopsy report indicates that Shaikh suffered a medical emergency or was under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Toxicology results won’t be available for another four or five weeks, Betz said.

Matt Dunn, public information officer for the Centerville Police Department, said detectives are looking for the driver of a tan compact car who may have crucial information regarding the crash.

“It’s believed that Shaikh entered the northbound highway from Wilmington Pike, and the tan car may have followed him onto the highway and may have (had) a better view of what caused him to crash,” Dunn said.
